what is ozone hole? what are its effects?

Dear student, Ozone hole is an excessive thinning of ozone layer, when more than half of the ozone gas in a particular area is depleted. Harmful ultraviolet rays can pass through it to reach the earth's surface. It happens by the reaction of harmful gases like CFCs. Since UV Ray's reach the Earth's surface they can cause skin cancer in animals. UV radiation when comes in contact with DNA of an organism, causes mutation. UV radiation burn leaves of plant.
