Death is common to all; get in the valley of desolation there is a path that leads him to immortality who has surrendered all selfishness. What did kisa gotami mean?

Dear student,

Death comes to all. People who are sad as they think that they would die one day or their loved ones would die one day should realise that the path of eternal life is to surrender all selfishness, jealousy, hatred etc. that destroys one's life. One who leaves all his desires and selfishness accepts death as a part of life. He doesn't fear death any more. One can attain immortality through spiritual peacefulness.

The death of the loved ones is the greatest sorrow of the people. The grief that follows after death results in restlessness and one constantly strives for peace of mind. The individual thinks that lamenting and remembering  the person might bring peace but Buddha taught in his sermon that the one who is unable to pull out the arrow of sorrow, can not attain peace. Only that person can attain the peace of mind who has overcome his sorrow and  has accepted the death as the ultimate reality of life.

he means the one who has left all their desires and selfishness doesn't fear death , even tho the "death" is an inevitable end of life. If someone simply just accepts this fact, he needs not fear death by anything and this feeling of neutrality and spiritual peacefulness will lead to immortality(spiritually of course)
