Define a Geosyncline. What is the result of the upliftment of the sediments in the basin?

A geosyncline is a large scale depression in the earths crustcontaining very thick deposits. The upliftment of sediments in a basin results in the formation of lofty mountains especially when the adjacent area rocks subside due to collision of plates. The basin formed when the rock subside get filled with sediments deposited by the rivers flowing down the mountains thus forminf a flat plain. The morthern plains are one such plain formed by tectonic action.
