Define a Geosyncline what is the result of the upliftment of sediments in a basin?

A geosyncline is a large scale depression in the earths crustcontaining very thick deposits. The upliftment of sediments in a basin results in the formation of lofty mountains especially when the adjacent area rocks subside due to collision of plates.
