Define carbon dioxide

Dear Student,
Carbon dioxide is a gas with the molecular formula CO2 and is utilised by plants during the process of photosynthesis, to prepare their food. Carbon dioxide has many uses such as:

  • Used in preparation of aerated drinks.
  • Used in fire extinguishers to put out fire.
  • Used in manufacture of washing soda.
  • Solid carbon dioxide is used a coolant.
  • Used in artificial respiration.
  • Used for purification of sugar.
