In some photosynthetic eukaryotes, a special type of plastids are present known as chromoplasts. The chloroplasts gets converted to chromoplasts.Their function is to synthesise and store the pigments(carotenoids). These are found in flowers, fruits, ageing leaves and roots and imparts distinctive colours to them.
