define composite fish culture .mention its 2 advantages.......
In composite fish culture system a combination of five to six fishes is used in a single pond so that they do not compete for the food because of there different food habits. All the fishes depending on their food habits feed on different parts of the pond for example: Silver carp is a surface feeder it feed on the surface of the pond, Rohu is a column feeder it feed on the middle portion of the pond and Common carp is a bottom feeder it feed on the bottom portion of the pond.
1. Fishes do not compete for the food they feed on different parts of the water body.
2. As five to six fishes are cultivated at the same time so it increases the fish yield.
The Composite fish culture system is a technology developed in India by theIndian Council of AgriculturalResearchin the 1970s. In this system both local and imported fish species, a combination of five or six fish species is used in a single fish pond. These species are selected so that they do not compete for food among them having different types of food habitatsAs a result the food available in all the parts of the pond is used.Advantages are:-1 different types of fish can be cultured along with a crop without causing damage to either of them.
2. it requires less feeding as fish feed on the waste of main cropIncreases survival rate and yield tooHope it helps !
