Define frequency distribution. State the principles required to be observed in its formation

Dear Student,
It is a method of organising statistical raw data. It is a table that displays the frequency of various outcomes in a sample. The items assume a range of values and are placed within the range or limits. In simple words, data are classified into different classes with a range, the range is called class intervals. Each item in the series is written against a particular class interval by way of a tally marks or frequency. The number of times an item occurs is shown as frequency against the class intervals to which that item belongs.

Principles required to be observed in its formation.
a) Class: A range of values which incorporate a set of items is called a class. For example: 5-10, 10-15 are the classes.
b) Class limits: The extreme values of a class are limits (5-10) 5 is the lower limit and 10 is the upper limit.
c) Magnitude of a class interval: Magnitude of a class means the difference between the upper and the lower limit of a class. (10-5 = 5)
d)Mid value: Mid value is the average value of the upper and lower limits. Add the both the limits of the same interval and divide it by 2.
