The median is that value of the variable which divides the group into two equal parts, one part comprising all values greater than the median value and the other part comprising all values smaller than the median value. To calculate the median value, first, all the observations of the data series are arranged either in ascending or descending order of magnitudes and then the middlemost observation is called the median.
