Define metalloids class 8

Dear student,

Metalloids, those elements that exhibit characteristics of metals and nonmetals, both. Some of their common properties are:
-they are solids,
-they are not lustrous,
-they conduct heat and electricity.
Examples are:
boron (B),Silicon (Si),Tellurium (Te), Polonium (Po), etc.

Hi,● An element (e.g., germanium or silicon) whose properties are intermediate between those of metals and solid nonmetals are called metalloids. They are electrical semiconductors. The metalloids or semimetals are located along the line between the metals and nonmetals in the periodic table. The metalloids are boron, silicon, germanium, arsenic, antimony, and tellurium. Polonium is often considered a metalloid, too.● Hope this helps. Cheers!
