Define nutrition. What is the source of nutrition for organisms? (Plants and animals both).

Dear student, Nutrition is the process of intake and the utilisation of the food by the living organisms to produce energy which is required by the body to perform all kind of activities. It involves taking in the nutrients required by the body and then utilising them to produce energy, and for growth and the development of the body. The plants have the autotrophic mode of nutrition they produce there own food by the process of the photosynthesis while the animals have the heterotrophic mode of the nutrition , they depends on other organisms for there nutrition. They either directly or indirectly depends on the plants for there nutrition. Holozoic, saprophytic and parasitism are the types of the heterotrophic nutrition. Regards
