Define polygons and its components.

A closed plane figure bounded by three or more line segments is called a polygon. The polygon is a Greek word in which the meaning of 'poly' is 'many' and the meaning of the 'gon' is 'angle'.

There are a number of parts of a polygon. The parts of the polygon is the same for all types of polygons. The different parts of the polygon are,

1) Sides -
The side of the polygon is called as the surface of polygon. Polygons have different sides. The name of the polygon depends upon the polygon sides. For example, a six sides polygon is called as a hexagon.

2) Vertex
The vertex of a polygon is the connection between two sides. The vertex and vertices are same. The number of vertices is equal to the number of sides of polygon.

3) Diagonals-
The diagonal is known as a line that connects two points in the boundary of a polygon through the centre.

4) Interior angle
The interior angle is the angle that is formed inside the polygon by two adjacent sides. All vertex forms an interior angle.

5) Exterior angle
The exterior angle is the angle formed by two adjacent sides, outside the polygon by extending one of the sides of the polygon.
