Define Primitive Tribes in brief.
Dear Student,
Primitive Tribes or Primitive Tribal Group (PTG) is a sub-category group within the Scheduled Tribes and these Primitive Tribes are considered to be at lower level in the devlopment compared to the other groups in the Scheduled Tribes. This sub-category group was named Primitive Tribes after the report of Dhebar Commission (1960-61) and after many studies that were conducted during the fourth-five year plan. The Primitive Tribes have certain distinct features such as the practice of pre-agricultural system, hunting gathering, very low literacy rate compared to other tribes.
