Define reactants in a simple way . 

Dear student,

A substance that takes part in a reaction or undergoes change during a reaction is called a reactant.

For example 

2Na + Cl2 → 2 NaCl

Here Na and Chlorine gas are said to be reactants and the new product which is NaCl in the above reaction is said to be a product.
