a) Bilateral symmetry: Body can be divided into left and right halves by one plane only. For example: insects, chordates.
b) The body of some animals is made up of three layers of cells, the outer ectoderm, the middle mesoderm and the inner endoderm. The body cavity or the coelom is the space enclosed by the mesoderm where the internal organs are suspended. For example, phylum Annelida like Nereis.
c) Animals having a body made of three germ layers – ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm are known as ‘Triploblastic’. ​For example, Ascaris
