Describe an experiment showing the relationship between rate of diffusion and density of liquid?

Dear Student,

To carry out the experiment, to compare the rate of diffusion of liquids, having different densities, we would need:

  • Two beakers filled with water, marked A and B.
  • Blue ink
  • Honey

In the beaker A, pour a drop of blue ink slowly. And in beaker B pour a drop of honey very carefully. Now, leave the two beakers undisturbed. After sometime, you would observe that the water in beaker A, turned slightly blue in colour. But the the drop of honey in beaker B, diffuses very slowly. Hence, on the basis of these observations, it can be concluded that, liquids with lower densities, diffuse quicker than the liquids with high densities.

Hope this information is helpful.
