Describe application of chemical analytical chemistry, sampling of solids and stages of analysis

Analytical chemistry is a branch of chemistry which deals with the qualitative and quantitative study of various substances. It deals with the separation, identification, and quantitative analysis of chemical constituents of a substance.

Analytical chemistry has enormous applications, to name a few
  • It is  used to determine the shelf life of various medicines and formulations.
  • It is used to detect adulterants in pharmaceuticals.
  • It can be used to determine the quantity of certain element present in a given mineral.
  • It can be used to assess the quantity of pesticide residues and pollutants in any food sample
There are three main stages of analysis :
  • The separation procedure is performed to separate the appropriate chemical species from a mixture for analysis.
  • Identification of the analyte material is accomplished using qualitative analytical methods.
  • After that quantitative analysis is performed to find the analyte concentration in a given combination.
Sampling of solids refers to the process by which various samples of solids are prepared for further analysis and study
