Describe how arms race is waste of resources?
Arms race can be considered as the waste of resources:
a. As huge sum of money is spent in building modern sophisticated weapons which could otherwise be used for purposes like improving education, health facilities.
b. Besides that, there is always a compulsion to do away with obsolete weapons and to have modern technology, in such a case discarding old weapon amounts to sheer wastage.
c. Competition amongst the rival powers leads to accumulation of more and more weapons which at times are never put to use.
d. A country's huge budget is diverted towards building arms which burdens the economy.
