DESCRIBE how the narrator in " the cutting of my long hair'' resist and fight against the aatemtof shingling her long and heavy hair . how she was humiliate.

The narrator resisted the futile attempt of shingling her long hair by hiding herself in a dark room and making vehement protests when dragged to shingle her hair. She hid herself inside the cot and paid a deaf ear to those noises calling out for her. This was because in her religion, singled hair were worn by the mourners or the unskilled warriers who had been captured by their enemy. They represented a weak and vallicating persona.
She was humiliated since she did not know of the table ettiquettes and had sat herself down before the bell. Also she was qiute wary of the glances the pale woman gave her. She was new and foriegn to the alien concepts.

In 'The Cutting of my Long Hair', the little native girl can't take injustice and oppression meekly. She wants to maintain her own identity. She wants to have long and heavy hair. It is the tradition of her community. Only cowards have shingled hairs among them. She doesn't submit but resist, she fights to she is overpowered. The narrator was not willing to submit. She crawled under a be and huddled in a dark corner. She shuddered with fear whenever she heard footsteps nearby. When discovered, she resisted by kicking and scratching wildly when she was dragged out. She was carried downstairs and tied to a chair. Then they cut her long and beautiful hair and no one came forward to help her. Thus the narrator lost her distinct cultural recognition and identity.
