Describe in brief, how was the narrator's long and heavy hair shingled.

Hi Warish Ahmed,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

People of the community to which the author belonged believed that short hair was worn by mourners and shingled hair was worn by cowards. She decided to struggle to save her long hair. She somehow managed to escape and hide in a large room where there were three white beds. The colour of the curtains of the room was bottle green and that made room very dim. She crawled on her hand and knees to reach the farthest point of the room. She shuddered whenever she heard footsteps or someone called out her name. But finally the women and girls entered the room and searched her by opening the closet doors and peeping behind the large trucks. Someone then suddenly threw up the curtains and as the room became filled with light they could easily spot the author. She was then dragged out of her hiding place while resisted by scratching and kicking wildly. But ultimately she felt the cold blades of the scissors against her neck and her hair was shingled.
