Describe labrum of a cockroach?

Dear student,

Iabrum:
This is a flaplike, sensory dorsal lip; There are gustatory areas on the ventral, or epipharyngeal, surface. The labrum is bounded by the clypeus, but hangs free below. The labrum functions to keep food in the preoral cavity and to protect the basal articulations of the mandibles.
