Describe neutralisation. What decieds the nature of a salt formed during a neutralisation reaction?

The reaction in which an acid reacts with a base to form a salt is known as neutralization reaction.

The nature of the salt formed depends upon how strong acids or bases are used in reaction.

Three types of salts are formed in neutralization reaction-

  1. Strong acid and strong base mix up to form neutral salts.
  2. Strong acid and weak base mix up to form acidic salts.
  3. Weak acid and strong base mix up to form basic salts.
