​​​​​​​CAUSES FOR POOR HEALTH IN INDIA:

(1) Privatisation: The government of India is gradually moving towards privatisation of healthcare services. 
Private hospitals are flourishing instead of government hospitals as a result of which healthcare is becoming very expensive and beyond the reach of millions of people in India.

(2) Unequal Distribution of Healthcare Services: Distribution of healthcare services is extremely unequal across rural and urban sectors of the country . Most of the healthcare facilities have been limited to the urban sector of India only. 

(3) Communicable Diseases: Communicable diseases like AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), HIV ( Human Immunodeficiency Virus) are creating a serious problem for the society of India.

(4) Poor Sanitation Level: Level of Sanitation is extremely poor in India be it urban areas or rural areas of India. Sanitation infrastructure has two functions: (a) to make surroundings clean where we live and where we work (b) to make people aware of sanitation and encouraging them to participate in awareness programmes. In both of these areas we are way behind international standards.
