describe the character of gerrard

Gerrard is a theater artist with sharp wit and a quick sense of humor. He does not panic on confronting an intruder in his house. Rather he begins a witty conversation with him in a humorous manner . He stretches his argument to such an extent that the intruder actually comes to believe that police is already running after Gerrard to catch him. He makes the intruder believe that he will be hanged at last, if not as  Intruder  then perhaps as Gerrard. He outsmarts him by snatching his revolver and locks him into the cupboard. In this way, he not only uses his wit to save his own life but also to help police in arresting a murderer.
