Describe the difficulties faced by Gandhi at Champaran.
Pls ans this question very urgently with reference to Indigo
Dear Student,
Mahatma Gandhi arrived at Champaran to investigate the injustices committed by the British landlords against the peasants. However, the British administration was not supportive of his efforts. The British official commission of Tirhut division tried to intimidate Gandhiji. He then approached British Landlords Association for getting more information about the atrocities committed against the sharecroppers. Unfortunately, they refused to give any information to an outsider. When Gandhiji proceeded to Motihari, he received official orders to leave Champaran immediately. Upon disobeying the order, he was issued a summon to appear in the court.
