Following glands are involved in the digestive system:-
  • salivary gland- it secretes salivary amylase which breaks down carbohydrate into maltose(simple sugar) and it also wets the food so that it could pass through oesophagus easily.
  • Liver- it is the largest gland in our body. it secretes bile juice and bile salt which is stored in gall bladder. bile juice neutralise the acidic food and form salt and water and bile salt breakdown fats.
  • Pancreas- it is the second largest gland in our body. it secretes pancreatic juice which contains pancreatic amylase, trypsin and lipase. pancreatic amylase digests carbohydrate into glucose, trypsin digests protein into amino acid and lipase digests fats into fatty acid and glycerol.
