describe the grandmother's daily routine in the village

The narrator’s grandmother was an old lady. In the story “The Portrait of a Lady” the narrator drew a very striking picture of his grandmother. She was of a tough mindset. She dealt with her life very well, although single handed. She not only took of herself but also her grandson. The narrator spent his childhood with his grandmother in a village. She was her grandson’s bosom friend. she used to bath him and sent to school. Khuswant Singh was accompanied by his grandmother while going to school which was attached to a temple. As the temple was close to the school, it was advantageous for both. The narrator sat in a row with other students and learnt his alphabet and prayers in the school while his grandmother sat inside the temple and read the scriptures.while returning from the school, he fed the dogs. She helped him in his studies also. She was like a second mother to the narrator. However, all this changed when both the narrator and his grandmother went to live in the city, with the narrator’s parent.

1st of all, she always use to wake her grandson up then get him ready for school.

since the school was near the temple so she use to walk with her grandson to school and read scripture till the school was over. on the way to home, she fed street dogs with stale chappati.
