Describe the principle of Satyagraha followed by Gandhiji during the freedom struggle

Satyagraha, which literally means holding on to the truth, is a nonviolent form of resistance that was introduced by Mahatma Gandhi in India's freedom struggle and since then, have been applied by by different activists in various parts of the world. Satyagraha seeks to resist violence and oppression by governments and one's opponents in a non-violent manner. The basic principles of satyagraha are non-violence, truth and honesty, fearlessness and equal respect for all religions.
