Describe the response elicited in a zebra when chased by a lion

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Zebras have a nervous system similar to that of humans. It comprises sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system under the autonomic nervous system. When a zebra is chased by a lion, it experiences adrenaline rush due to high secretion of this hormone in the times of stress (flight response). The lion is able to catch it in most of the cases and it first grabs the legs of the zebra. Till this time, zebra fights for its life as all the adrenaline is dumped into the bloodstream by the sympathetic nervous system. This is its last effort for survival. When lion finally grabs its throat, then a part of Zebra's brainstem is triggered and it puts zebra into freeze state (a state in which zebra does not feel the pain of being eaten).

This response shown by Zebra is known as the fight-flight-freeze response.
