describe the views and objectives of the self respect movement highlighting the contribution of the Pariyar

It was E.V. Ramaswamy Naicker, who was known as Periyar . He was an Indian social reformer who raised his voice against the caste system and its rigidities.He organised the Self Respect Movement in 1925 and carried on a rigorous propaganda against traditional customs and rituals.
He also argued that untouchables truly upheld the Dravidian culture and that they had to free themselves from the subjugation and inequality.
The main aim and objective of the Self Respect movement was to challenge traditional caste system that oppressed and subjugated the lower caste and segregated them .
Periyar even organised the Tamil Nadu Congress meeting in 1922 where he passed the resolution for he entry of he people of all castes into the temples.
