Describe the ways in which M.Hamel ensured that his last lesson left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of his students.

Dear student
The author, Alphonse daudet, in his chapter, The Last Lesson, has incredibly described his patriotic side, where we find the teacher, Mr. Hamel tried his utmost in order to keep resemblance of the last class. He tried to grasp every picture of the classroom, where he has been continuously providing service for forty years.
He tried to teach his students that French is the most logical, clearest language in this whole world. Moreover, he told his students to guard the language within themselves. As long as they hold grip on their mother tongue, it's as if they hold key to there prison.
At the end of the lesson he wrote as long as possible in the blackboard, "VIVE LA FRANCE" , that is, long live France.
The chapter clearly indicated the situation which everyone was undergoing through. It was the Franco-Prussian war, in which France was defeated by the Prussian and the order has come from Berlin to teach only German in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine.
hope it helps
Regards
