Despite evidence of blood stains, the Otis family remains undaunted and stays on in the Canterville mansion. Do think they have an exaggerated opinion of their modernism or they are enviable? Justify your viewpoint in the light of chapter 1.
In spite of the recurring blood stain on the library floor, the Otis family were unperturbed regarding the curious incident of the blood stain and impervious to the supernatural occurrences at the Canterville Chase. Their faith in their modern outlook was not misplaced or exaggerated, as educated individuals in the modern era, they had a right to place their faith in the marvels of science and reasoning but it is also important to allow for things to happen which are inexplicable. A lot of what science has discovered and proved to be truthful was taken as supernatural or mysterious occurrences before the light of rational explanation was shone on it. The earth was supposed to be flat and at the center of the universe but it was later proved that the earth was round and revolved around the sun which was at the center of the universe. So, it is important to be modern and scientific but also allow that things do happen outside of our realm of reasoning and which literature brings to the fore.
