Diamond has high melting point. Why?

Diamond ia an alloptrope of carbon. In diamond , one carbon atom is linked to four other carbon atom with single covalent bond. As we know single covalent bond is a very strong bond. Therfore bond between the carbon atoms of diamond is very strong. High amount of energy as heat is required to break such strong bond. Therefore, diamond has high melting point.

because diamonds have very strong covalent bonds

In a diamond every carbon shares all 4 of its available electrons with other carbon atoms so it consists of 8 carbon atoms, forming a tetrahedral network. This network is very strong and rigid, thus the diamond is hard and has a high melting point.

Diamond is a macromolecule...there are no intermolecular forces between diamond molecules. So, the actual carbon bonds that hold the diamond must be broken for it to melt...this property gives diamond a high melting point.

IN DIAMONDS CARBON  ATOMS ARE BONDED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THERE IS VERY VERY SMALL INTER MOLECULAR SPACES BETWEEN THEM DUE TO THIS REASON HIGH AMOUNT HEAT IS REQUIRED TO BREAK BONDING BETWEEN THEM

Each carbon atom is covalently bonded to four other carbon atoms. A lot of energy is needed to separate the atoms in diamond. This is because covalent bonds are strong, and diamond contains  many covalent bonds. This makes diamond's melting point and boiling point very high.

Due to strong covalent bonds, diamond has a high melting point.

Diamond is a crystalline allotrope of carbon in which each carbon atom is covalently bonded to four other carbon atoms. and a  lot of energy is needed to separate the atoms in diamond arranged in 3D structure.  Because covalent bonds are very strong which makes diamond's melting point very high.

Diamond has a crystal lattice &carbon atoms undergoes mp3 hybridization &forms 4sp3 hybrid orbitals by using 4sp3 hybridization carbon atom bonded with 4 other carbon atoms through covalent bonds in tetrahedrally these tetrahedral structure are arranged in 3 dimensional giant molecules it has 3 dimensional network structure
