Did Commercialisation of agriculture make India self sufficient in food grain production? It is there in Sandeep Garg. Please explain how.

Dear Student,
Commercialization of agriculture means agriculture is governed by commercial consideration i.e. specialised crops began to be grown not for consumption but for sale in the national as well as international market.
Commercialization of agriculture began during the British rule.It was done mainly to feed the British industries,India provided the raw material(cash crops) and British industries used those resources to produce Finished products.
Most of the Indian farmers suffered miserably due to forced production of cash crops which resulted into reduced area of cultivation for food crops.During the year 1893-94 to 1945-46 the production of cash crops increased by 85 percent and the production of food crops declined by 7 percent.
Thus, It can be concluded that commercialization of agriculture did not lead to production of food grains.
