Diff between volatile and non volatile??

Dear Student
A substance is said to be volatile if it readily vaporised at a relatively lower temperature or under the given conditions. example: alcohol is a volatile substance.

A substance is said to be non volatile if it is not readily vaporised .Substances with higher boiling points are generally non volatile.

When applying this concept to numerical problems in Solutions chapter based on vapour pressure, it means that when a non volatile solute is added to a solution, the only substance contributing to vapour pressure is the solvent and not the non- volatile solute.
