Difference between budding and gemmule formation.
Dear student,
Gemmule formation is the asexual method of reproduction in sponges. Gemmule is the mass of cells or internal bud which have a hard coating and are resistant to the hostile environmental conditions. At the favourable conditions arrives, these gemmules produce new sponges.
Budding is a type of asexual reproduction that occurs in hydra, yeast, etc in which a bud develops on parent body due to rapid cell division. The new bud detaches from parent body when it gets fully mature and develops separately into new individual.
Regards.
