Difference between complementary goods and substitute goods

substitute goods
1.substitute goods are those goods which can be interchanged for use.
2.when price of a substitute good increases,demand for a good rises and vice versa.
3.examples-tea and coffee, pepsi and coke.
complementary goods
1.complementary goods are those goods which complete the demand for each other.
2.when price of a complementary good increases, demand for a good falls and vice versa.
3.examples-pen and ink, bread and butter.

SUBSTITUTE GOODS
                  Goods which can be used is place of each other and have direct and positive relationship between price of a commodity and the demand of its substitude and vise versa are called​SUBSTITUTE GOODS

example tea and coffee
              pepsi and coke
              pen and pencil
             etc

COMPLEMENTARY GOODS
               Goods which are use together to give satisfaction to the user and have inverse and negative relationship between price of a commodity and demand of its compliment are called ​COMPLEMENTARY GOODS

example car and petrol
              pen and paper
             pencil and paper
