Smoke and dust are the main cause for pollution,among them smoke is produced by combustion of fossil fuels resulted by scattering, while dust is non-scattering source which is high in pollution threshold on comparing to smoke.
Example of smoke are IC engine combustion in automobiles and dust are carried away by air namely sand dust etc..,
