After fertilisation- The zygote divides several times to form an embryo inside the ovule. When the two gametes male and female fuse, they form a single cell zygote which further divides and form the embryo.

while, the ovule develops a hard coat and becomes the seed. Seed is a ripened plant ovule or propogative part of plant formed in the sexual reproductive cycle of Gymnosperm and Angiosperm plants. It consists of protective coat enclosing embryo and food reserve.
