Difference between maltose and alpha dextrin .

Dear student

Maltose is a disaccharide formed by two D-glucose units joined together by α (1→4) linkage. It is produced when amylase enzyme decomposes starch molecules.

Alpha dextrins are a group of branched oligosaccharides formed by many molecules of D-glucose units linked by α-(1→4) or α-(1→6) glycosidic bonds. They are also produced from starch by amylases.
