Difference between nucleus and nucleous?
Dear Student, Nucleus is a specialised double membrane bound protoplasmic body which contains all the genetic information for controlling cellular metabolism and transmission to the offspring. Nucleus is present in all living eukaryotic cells with the exception if mature sieve cells of vascular plants, red blood cells of mammals. It consists of DNA, RNA , Lipids, Basic and Acidic Proteins and enzymes. Nucleolus is present inside the nucleus and is naked, round or slightly irregular structure which is attached to chromatin at a specific region called nucleolar organiser region. Commonly 1-4 nucleoli are found in a nucleus. It is the principle site for development of proteins, centre for formation of ribosome components. Thank You!
