Difference between physical and chemical changes

Dear Student,

The Differences between physical and chemical changes are:

Physical Change Chemical Change
1. A physical change is a change of state of matter in which no chemical reaction is involved.    1. A chemical change involves a chemical reaction to take place.
2. Here no new substance is formed except state change. 2. Here new substances are formed.
3. Physical change is a reversible change 3. Chemical change is an irreversible change
eg: Melting of wax of a candle is a physical change as the molten wax can solidify back. eg: The buning of flame of a candle gives out new substances which cannot be brought back to their original form. Thus it is a chemical change.
