• These are  the resources whose total  quantity  may  not  be  known.
• These  resources  are  not  being  used at  present  but could  be  used  in  the  future.
•  Example -  Uranium  found  in  ladakh.

Actual  resources

• These  are  the  resources  whose  quantity  is  known.
• They  are  used  in  the  present.
• Example -  The  rich  deposits  of  coal  in  Ruhr region  of  Germany
