Difference between upland rice and lowland rice.....??

Dear Student,

Lowland rice is grown in areas where water is available in abundance like in areas that receive good natural rainfall or areas that are well irrigated. Such varieties of rice are grown in fertile and low elevated lands. However, they are high yielding crop varieties.

Upland rice is grown in areas where there is no surface water accumulation like in mountainous regions. Here, the supply of water is limited. Irrigation facilities are necessary to grow rice in such areas.  Growth of such varieties of rice requires a limited supply of water  These varieties of rice are drought resistant. They are low yielding crop varieties.
