In upright pyramids the energy, number or biomass of producer is more as compared to herbivores and carnivores.

In inverted pyramids energy, number or biomass of carnivores is more as compared to producers and herbivores. For example pyramid of biomass in case of sea habitat, where biomass of phytoplankton (producers) is less than the biomass of small fishes (herbivores) and large fishes (carnivores).
