differences between cell wall and cel membrane

Cell Wall1) It is present only in plant cells.2) Its is rigid and comparatively thick.3) It is non-living and permiable.4) It is made up of cellulose.Plasma Membrane (also known as cell memberane)1) Present in both Plant and Animal cells.2) It is flexible and comparatively thin.3) It is living and semi-permiable.4) Made up of lipids and protiens.Hope this helps !Thumbs up if you like! :D

It is interesting to note that cell membrane contains carbohydrates and steroids too along with sugars. Cell wall has lipoproteins too in addition to cellulose.

CELL WALL :

  1. found in plant cells .
  2. tough and rigid layer that surrounds the cells mostly the plant cells. It is located outside the cell membrane and offers complete protection to the cells.
  3. the function of cell wall is to officiate as a pressure vessel that assists in keeping over- expansion of the cell at bay.
  4. It renders easy the process of water retention by the cell.
  5. It is flexible , would bend and is characterized by considerable tensile strength too.
  6. It is fully permeable and is made up of cellulose to a great extent.
  7. It has lipoprotiens too in addition to cellulose.

CELL MEMBRANE :

  1. found in animal cells
  2. It ia layer that keeps the interior of the cells protected from the outside environment
  3. Its main function is to control the movement of the substance in and out of the cells
  4. It plays a vital role in several cellular processes such as cell adhesion, cell signaling and ion conductivity.
  5. It is polarized. It causes the movement of the material in and out of the cell.
  6. It is semi-permeable and contains proteins and lipids to a great extent. It ia also known as plasma membrane.
  7. It contains carbohydrates and steroids too along with sugar.

hope this helpss u .. plzzz thumbs up...
