Differentiate between blastogenesis and embryogenesis.

Dear Student!

Blastogenesis is the stage from fertilization of gametes till third week when gastrulation takes place while embryogenesis is the stage from the third week to the eighth week till the fetus is formed.

 Blastogenesis is the formation of daughter individuals through budding, gemmation and other means of asexual reproduction. Embryogenesis is the production of individuals through fertilization of ovum and development of embryo. Embryology deals with the study of changes that involve embryogenesis or formation of zygote and its development upto the birth of young one. The various steps of embryonic development are gametogenesis, gametes, fertilization, cleavage, blastulation, gastrulation, organogenesis, etc.
