Differentiate between desertification and drought.

Dear Student, Desertification is the process of conversion of a fertile land into an arid land due to natural or human activities. In desertification an arid land may become more and more arid losing its water bodies and changes in the plant, microbe and animal forms. The primary causes of desertification are overgrazing, deforestation and clearing of land for agriculture. Natural causes include drought. Droughts are caused by lack of precipitation and high temperatures and through overuse of natural resources, cultivable land and overpopulation. It generally refers to a very long period in an area without rain. Regards
