Diffrence between luminous and non-luminous material

            Light is a form of energy emitted by bodies under certain conditions. A luminous body is one that emits its own light example- sun. Non luminous bodies are objects that reflect light from luminous bodies. example- moon.

Luminous Object
Luminous objects exhibit light in their own.
Examples: - Sun, flame of a burning candle
 
Non- Luminous:  Non- Luminous Objects are objects that reflect light from luminous bodies
Examples: - moon, earth

luminous objects emit their own light light 
non luminous objects dont  emit their own light

In order for us to see an object that is non-luminous, it must reflect some of the light it receives from a luminous source, such as the Sun. Most of the objects we see, such as cars, clouds or even the Moon, are not luminous; it is just that they reflect sunlight.

Luminous Objects -
Objects which produce light by their own light 
Examples - Sun , Fireflies , Stars

Non - Luminous Objects 
The objects which reflect light from Luminous objects
Example - Moon , Light , Book

Objects that give out light are called luminous objects.
Ex:-Candle,Torch,Lamp etc.
Objects that do not give out light are called non-luminous objects.
Ex:-Chair,Book etc.

The material which have their own light is called luminous objects. Ex.-sun, firefly etc. The material which have not their own light is called non luminous object. Ex.- moon ,book etc.
