dil. hydrochloric acid is added to sodium thiosiulphate

Dear student,

When dilute hydrochloric acid is added to sodium thiosulphate, the solution turns cloudy due to the formation of yellow solid sulfur. It is a very good reaction to study the concept of kinetics and reaction rate.

Na2S2O3 + 2HCl  2NaCl + SO2 + S + H2O

Hi Pihu!

Na2S2O3 + H2SO4 → Na2SO4 + SO2 + S↓ + H2O

Sodium thiosulfate reacts with sulfuric acid to produce sodium sulfate, carbon dioxide, sulfur and water.

Hope this one help....
The reaction between sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid is as follows:
Reaction 1: Na2S2O3 + 2HCl -> 2NaCl + SO2 + S + H2O

I AM really sorry for the last answer, it was a misunderstanding.
BUT I AM SURe THAT THIS WILL HELP...
